Once a persona has been created, it can be applied in Threads to control how the AI responds in that conversation, and in Documents to keep AI-assisted writing consistent with a particular voice or brand style.
Applying a persona in a Thread
- Open an existing thread or start a new one.
- Look for the Persona / Character selector in the thread input area.
- Click it and choose a persona from your workspace library.
- The persona is now active for this thread — subsequent AI responses will follow its behaviour and tone.
You can switch personas mid-thread. The history stays the same, but the AI's behaviour changes from that point forward.
Applying a persona in a Document
- Open an existing document or create a new one.
- Use the persona selector in the document toolbar or settings panel.
- Select a persona.
The chosen persona influences AI-generated content within the document — useful when you want all AI assistance in a document to follow a specific brand voice or writing style.
Practical examples
| Scenario | Suggested persona |
|---|---|
| Drafting a blog post for a client's brand | "Client: [Brand Name]" persona with that brand's tone and guidelines |
| Researching a market opportunity | "Senior Research Analyst" persona tuned for structured, cited analysis |
| Writing executive communications | "Executive Ghostwriter" persona — concise, confident, polished prose |
| Running a customer support simulation | "Support Agent" persona — empathetic, solution-focused, protocol-aware |
Tips
- Your onboarding Character is a great default — it's already tuned to your working style. Use it as a starting point for personal productivity threads.
- Create per-project personas for ongoing client work so any team member can use the same consistent voice.
- If a persona isn't working as expected, edit its instructions to be more specific. See Creating a persona.
