Threads now build a running summary of your conversation as you work. Every message gets a short one-line recap, and the thread as a whole gets a digest with a headline and the key points so far — making it easier to scan long conversations and pick up where you left off.
What gets summarised
There are two layers of summary, and both update automatically as the conversation grows:
Per-message summaries. Each message in the thread gets a single-line recap of what was said or produced. This is especially useful for long AI responses, briefs, or generated content where the gist matters more than the full text.
Thread digest. The thread itself carries a short overview made up of a headline (what this thread is about) and a handful of key points (what's been decided, asked, or created). The digest is rolled up from the most recent message summaries, so it reflects where the conversation actually is — not just how it started.
Where to find it
Summaries appear alongside the thread itself — on individual messages and in the thread overview panel. You don't need to turn anything on; summaries are generated in the background as you and the AI exchange messages.
Tips
Use the thread digest as a quick recap before sharing a thread with a teammate or returning to it after a few days.
Because each message only gets summarised once, editing or regenerating earlier content won't change its summary — the recap reflects the message as it was first sent.
Summaries are most useful in longer threads. Short back-and-forth conversations may not need them.
Good to know
Summaries are display-only at the moment. They help you and your team read and navigate threads more quickly, but the AI itself doesn't yet use the summary to inform its next response — it continues to work from the full conversation. We'll let you know when that changes.
